Part 1: 1980's Quiet Flight Resurrection
Started a new project today with my little brothers Joe and Nick who are home from school for the Holidays. This was Nick's old board. Made in the 1980's we think. It has had a lot of repairs and was in need of a little sprucing up so we decided to strip off the old glass, reshape the nose and tail a bit, and then reglass it. We will prolly add a couple of wooden fins and maybe a little trailing nubster in the middle. Here are a few shots of what we did today.
Stay stoked!

Part 8 - Test Ride: Reclaiming Stoke: Mini Simmons From Broken Longboard Surfboard
We finally had some decent waves so the wife spent some time on shore with the camera, she wasn't there the whole time and of course some of my best waves were when she wasn't there, but we managed to capture a fairly decent one, so I thought I should share it.
It took a little getting used too but I love the way it feels, maneuvers really easy because it is so short and light, and floats me real good because it is so wide.
Stay stoked!

Part 7: Reclaiming Stoke: Mini Simmons From Broken Longboard Surfboard
The board is basically done! So excited! Took it out for a test ride again today after installing the leash plug and traction pad, and putting a logo over the old one. The waves were bigger and choppy, dropped in on a few... it is so loose and fast and loads of fun. I might add a little "nubster" in the middle to give it a little more control. Overall I love it!!!
Leash plug from Culprit Surf about to be installed...
After it cured I sanded it down and then added a little more resin around the edges.
Traction pad and leash plug installed!!
Rocker view...
Logo I came up with...
Ready for shredding!!!
Length: 5' 4"
Tail width: 17"
Middle width: 21.5"
Nose width: 16"
Thickness: 2.25"
Stay Stoked!

Part 6: Reclaiming Stoke: Mini Simmons From Broken Longboard Surfboard
Still need to add the track pad and leash plug but had to take it out for a test ride today. The waves were super small but it seemed to perform pretty well, loose and floaty. Really amazing feeling riding on something you made yourself...

Part 5: Reclaiming Stoke: Mini Simmons From Broken Longboard Surfboard
Got the fins glassed onto the board today. So fun seeing it all come together.
-James
Soaked them in resin...
Let them cure in the sun...
Cut off the extra clothe, sanded down the rough edges and tacked them in place with some 5 min epoxy.
Glassed the fins onto the board and let them cure in the sun...
Cut off the extra clothe and now I've got some sanding to do before the "hot coat." That's as far as I got this morning.
Stay stoked!-James

Part 4: Reclaiming Stoke: Mini Simmons From Broken Longboard Surfboard
Started getting the fins sanded down and foiled on one side, and came up with a logo that I might use to cover up the old logo on the board. Also got a traction pad in the mail and will be sticking it on soon once I install the leash plug and do the final gloss coat of resin.
The fins are made of some scrap oak I had leftover from some other project.
Tail width: 17"
Middle width: 21.5"
Nose width: 16"
Thickness: 2.25"
Stay stoked!

The printer ran out of yellow, so the yellow and white stripes were accidental, but I kinda like it.lol
Traction pad should be going about there. Oh and now that all the glassing and shaping is done, I measured it and the dimensions are as follows...
Length: 5' 4"Tail width: 17"
Middle width: 21.5"
Nose width: 16"
Thickness: 2.25"
Can't wait for this to be done...
Stay stoked!
