Part 1: Reclaiming Stoke: Mini Simmons From Broken Longboard Surfboard

Hi, first time posting on blogger! Woot Woot!!! Thanks for checking me out. I am new to surfboard shaping, just started this year, so one reason I started this blog was to get feedback from those of you out there who know what you are doing. =D My next project is recycling or reshaping this broken longboard into a Mini Simmons style surfboard. Here are a few pix of the project so far...

Here it is broken off right at the fins.

I found a template online and traced out the fin outline onto some scrap wood I had laying around.

Then cut it out with the jig saw.

Fins will be glassed on somewhere around there once they are sanded down and foiled.

Started cutting out the tail design, that is as far as I got today before I had to rush off to my real job. Check back for more updates. Any feedback is welcome.

  2. I had the wood lying around and I have seen some pretty awesome looking wood fins so I had to give it a try. A lot of mini Simmons type boards have them.
